Ever spent way too much time writing something, only to realize it sounds robotic, wordy, or just plain unreadable? You’re not alone.
That’s exactly why I wrote my latest Medium article: Stop Overcomplicating Everything: Writing Like a Human. It’s all about simplifying your writing while keeping it engaging—whether for emails, social media, or work.
But here’s the thing: writing the article is only half the battle. The real challenge? Getting people to read it. That’s where social media comes in.
This week, I’m launching a multi-platform social media strategy to drive traffic to my article. Here’s a look at my LinkedIn, Facebook/Instagram, and X/Threads approaches—and why they’re optimized for each audience.
Every social medium has its audience and purpose. If I post the same content across all channels, I miss varied opportunities to connect with an audience specific to that platform.
LinkedIn: There is a need for a competent, professional tone that caters to a working audience.
Facebook and Instagram: These are casual and relatable, inviting humor for increased shareability.
X and Threads: This is short, conversational, and formatted for conversation and interaction.
By customizing my copy, visuals, and tone for each audience, I am optimizing my chances of people clicking through to read my full article.
Challenge yourself: Check your work, be it an email, a caption, or a blog post. Simplify your writing, make it clearer, and sound more human. Any help on that?
